In 2019, the gallery’s façade was transformed by Lothar Götz with the large-scale geometric mural Dance Diagonal. From late 2021 into spring 2022, Towner remodelled and refurbished its public areas, improving visitor flow, retail and social spaces. This period of exterior mural and refurbishment underlines the gallery’s evolving role in the town’s cultural life. Towner also stewards an ever-growing collection of more than 5,000 works of modern British and contemporary art.
