Designed by Robert Adam in the 1770s, the Palladian bridge carries a rare parade of shops across the River Avon, linking the city to the Pulteney estate at Bathwick. Its balanced façades, segmental arches and classical detailing make it one of only a handful of bridges in the world with shops on both sides. Altered and restored over the centuries, it remains a Grade I listed landmark and a centrepiece of Bath’s architectural heritage.
